About the event

MOWRI

MOWRI is a New York City based creator, experimental composer, music producer, sound design artist, audio engineer, and percussionist. Often producing music and sound design for theater, dance, and film, MOWRI collaborates with a large variety of multimedia artists that primarily focus on activism and awareness for marginalized peoples, BIPOC stories and community, as well as the experiences of the socially underrepresented. MOWRI’s pieces tell stories and serve as anthems against unjust systemic forces.

Angeliq

Angeliq Aje is a New York City based movement artist, healer, yoga instructor & poet, an alchemist in her own nature. Classically trained in all genres of movement as a child, Angeliq considers dance and somatic movement as one of her necessary medicines. The root of Angeliq's name is Angel - Messenger of God, as she embodies this gracefully in her work as a healer. Angeliq became a certified yoga instructor last year, at age 23, adding Ashtanga yoga as one of her several disciplines. She has worked with artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Ms.Lauryn Hill. Angeliq is a descendant of Nigerian ancestors. She carries the wisdom of Ifa and is accompanied by the orisha, Aje. Angeliq looks to her bloodline, spirit guides, and angels for wisdom, strength, and courage - and through them, she is reminded of her impact and ability to reach souls

Muyassar Kurdi

Muyassar Kurdi (b. 1989 in Chicago) is a Palestinian-American New York City-based interdisciplinary artist. Her work encompasses sound art, extended vocal technique, performance art, movement, painting, analog photography, and film. She currently focuses on interweaving electronic instruments into her embodied voice performances, stirring a plethora of emotions from her audience members through ritualistic chants, meditative movements, and noise.

Kalia Vandever

Kalia Vandever is an American trombonist and composer living in Brooklyn, NY. Her approach to the trombone is distinctive and defined by her sonorous tone and lyrical improvisational voice. She leans into the challenges of the instrument and allows patience and melody to guide her process.
