About the event
Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1989, Nakahori was deeply inspired by the music of Toru Takemitsu and began composing at the age of 14. He is the director of the 2025 Mito International Music Festival, which will feature Nakahori`s opera tour projects involving notable figures such as playwright Oriza Hirata and art director Fram Kitagawa. Nakahori’s music is heavily influenced by Japanese gagaku and Western avant-garde music. He focuses on the various sounds contained within a single tone and has proposed the concept of "spacetime music."
In 2015, Nakahori held a solo exhibition concert at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, where he conducted and presented works such as Fujisan no Itadaki (The Summit of Mount Fuji). Since then, he has gained international acclaim with works such as Hotarubi (2017), commissioned by the Goethe-Institut; Samon (2018), commissioned by the Kyoto Art Center; Futatsu no Kotonaru E (Two Different Pictures)…
