About the event
Jill Peacock is a Canadian soul singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Brooklyn. Sweet, soulful and playful but peppered with darker themes, Jill’s music explores a wide spectrum of emotions through her songwriting.
She is releasing her fourth album this summer. This album is leaning into more psychedelic sounds than her previous neo-soul work, as Jill explores influences from 1960’s bands she loves. Produced with long time collaborator Mario Castro, this work features very colourful visuals, experimental instrumentation, playful and surprising song forms, and is meant to be an escape from the here and now.
Jill’s music has been featured on CBC, WNYC, Gilles Peterson’s BBC show, has opened for Moonchild, and collaborated with Kadhja Bonet. She also plays bass and sings in boleros in Spanish with Los Cielitos, a project with her husband, guitarist Yasser Tejeda, which is also releasing an album this year.
