Sasha Feldman (b. 1989) is a ceramic sculptor based in New York City. After receiving a BFA with a focus on ceramics from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2012, he returned to his hometown of NYC where he has maintained an active studio practice exploring and experimenting with clay and glazing techniques. Initially drawn to the medium due to its immediacy, limitations, and range of possibility, Sasha has since enjoyed navigating the risks and challenges associated with this ancient artform. Sasha draws inspiration from the vast historical context of ceramics as well as memories of toys and media from boyhood. By employing a fresh approach to form and color, Sasha aims to create works that are both playful and formal; specifically creating peices that fit seamlessly into his personal collection of art objects.
