SANG EUN

Sang Eun (b. 1993, Seoul, South Korea) is a renowned artist specializing in photography, printmaking, and film. His journey into the world of photography began with an interest in photojournalism, which later expanded to various genres of visual arts. After relocating to New York to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts, Eun embarked on road trips across the United States, where he was profoundly inspired by the American landscape. His photographic practice delves into the interpretation of space, site, and the form of objects, exploring his emotional states through his art. Eun’s works navigate between literal and metaphorical modes of perception, focusing on the physiological process of vision and the recurrence and continuity of images based on the perceiver’s movements. When asked to share more about his work and career, in a recent interview with Shoutout LA, Eun explains that his art explores the nature of vision, blending his observations of light and natural phenomena with his experiences. He is particularly interested in how overlooked information can become an important element in his practice, rather than focusing on easily identifiable structures and objects.
